Despite ending on a moderate cliff-hanger that was never to be fully resolved (overwhelmingly due to the Disney buyout of the Star Wars franchise), Karen Traviss’ novel Imperial Commando: 501st is a well-developed, “indirect” finale to the events and character arcs of the Republic Commando series.Īs the title suggests, Traviss’ original intention was to further flesh out her niche clone trooper story arc within the Star Wars expanded universe into a follow-up series that would continue the adventures of the surviving members of “Clan Skirata”, as well as the remaining commandos now enslaved to the Empire, leading into the eventual birth of the Rebellion.
